St. Kevin’s Boys’ has been awarded its 1st Green Flag.

The theme for this flag is litter and waste. The committee and school community have been working hard to reduce waste items in our bins and make our community more aware of the importance of recycling!
Various initiatives at office level, and indeed in the classrooms, have seen our school reduce the number of items going to landfill every week. Recycling is everybody’s responsibility.

Please continue the hard work at home by segregating waste and showing your children how to correctly dispose of items.  A recent campaign has been launched by the Minister for Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten to eliminate confusion over recycling. Simply put, the list of suitable material is now simply paper, cardboard, rigid plastics, tins and cans. Items that are not on the list and not suitable for recycling include coffee cups, carrier bags, soft plastics (such as wrappers), paper towels and dirty pizza boxes. For further information please visit

We will have a flag raising event at our School on Friday, 28th of September at 11am.

Top tip from our Committee Members this month:

When you are unpacking your shopping recycle as
much of the outer packaging as you can straight away.
